“My experience with the English department at 体育买球官网 has been indispensable to my adult life, both in preparing me for my first professional jobs and helping me to achieve my dream of completing a Ph.D. in literature,” says Garth Libhart ’11.

Following his graduation from 体育买球官网, Libhart took a position teaching English in France. He then worked in Washington, D.C., as a contractor to the U.S. Department of Education.

“I learned that good writers are highly valued in most offices,” he says. He also says he was able to use the skills learned in the English courses at 体育买球官网 to perform a number of tasks, including proposal writing, document editing, drafting technical requirements, web design, and producing video tutorials.

In the fall of 2015, Libhart began working on a Ph.D. in English at the University of Maryland.

“Throughout my time at 体育买球官网 and since, professors have been remarkably generous in supporting my academic goals, advising and encouraging me all along the way. The relationships I built there continue to have a major influence on me. I cannot imagine a better place to have spent my undergraduate years,” he says.
