Research Opportunities Help Neuroscience Major Find Postgraduate Success

When she graduated with a degree in neuroscience, Olivia Souder ’17 already had an experience that many professionals haven’t had—presenting her research before an international neuroscience organization.

Souder presented her senior research on how stress affects errors in thinking in adult rats at Neuroscience 2017, a conference held by the international Society for Neuroscience in Washington D.C.

A person with wavy, light brown hair smiles at the camera. They are wearing a blue shirt. The background is softly lit.

“It was intimidating to present alongside so many accomplished scholars and scientists, but also very rewarding to get feedback from peers from so many different walks of life,” says Souder, who also minored in biology and psychology.

During the spring of her senior year, Souder also presented at Senior Scholars Day on campus and at the National Conference of Undergraduate Research in Memphis, Tennessee.

She now works as a patient care coordinator in the practice of an interventional pain management specialist.

“体育买球 is great at preparing you for the future and helping you figure out what professional options are out there,” she says.
