Plans Announced for Spring 2021 Semester

体育买球 Moves to Remote Learning for First Two Weeks

体育买球 University has announced plans for students to return to on-campus instruction for the spring 2021 semester, delaying students residing on campus for at least two weeks.

体育买球 will still begin the first day of classes on Monday, Jan. 25 as planned, but instruction will be remote for the first two weeks of the semester.

Staggered move-in will begin with seniors and resident assistants on Feb. 6-7. Juniors will move in the following weekend, Feb. 13-14. Sophomores and first-year students will return to campus Feb. 16, 20-21.

Students will undergo COVID-19 testing upon their arrival on campus. This testing will be handled through 体育买球’s newly established testing facility, which utilizes PCR testing to detect the presence of the coronavirus.

“PCR testing is considered the ‘gold standard’ for detection of viruses such as COVID,” said David Richard, professor of biology and 体育买球’s COVID-19 coordinator. “With our own testing facility, we now will be able to get reliable results within hours rather than days. This also means that quarantine times — should they be required — may be drastically reduced.”

As the university did in the fall, room and board charges will be prorated based on new move-in dates, and credits will be added to student accounts (if applicable) by the end of February.

A decision about student-athlete competitions for the spring season has not been finalized.
