体育买球 University students will embark on two new Global Opportunities (GO Short) programs that will take them to South America. Upon their return, students will take a credit-bearing reflection course to consider how their cross-cultural experience informed their view of the world and themselves.
GO Cusco will take students to Cusco, Peru, a Spanish colonial city and former capital of the Incan Empire located high in the Andes Mountains.
Students will observe how indigenous heritage and influences of Spanish colonialism are interwoven in Cusco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They will learn about life in rural communities and volunteer in a service project at a primary school outside of Cusco. Students will also visit the seaside capital, Lima, and take an exciting trip through the beautiful Sacred Valley. They will explore the ruins at Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Maras and Moray, and Machu Picchu where they will learn about ancient Incan architectural, medical and farming practices.
Students travel to Peru this month.
PataGOnia will give students unrivaled exposure to Argentinian culture, biodiversity and natural beauty, from Buenos Aires to the Pampas to Patagonia.
This cross-cultural program will introduce students to the unique historical, political, cultural, biological and environmental realities that characterize Argentina today. Latin America, and U.S. involvement in Latin American history and politics, will be a focus of the preparation discussion. This experience will provide lenses through which students will re-examine their values and roles as citizens of the U.S. and the world.
Students will travel to Argentina during the winter break of the 2018-19 academic year.
Through intentional programming, students make the most of their short-term study abroad on GO Short programs. They study away with 体育买球 faculty/staff leading a small group of 体育买球 classmates, all of whom have participated in the program’s preparation course in the semester prior to departure. After an intensive, active program, there is a reflection course for students to optimize their cross-cultural learning. These programs run during winter or summer breaks for two to six weeks, and are great opportunities for students to study away without committing to a full semester.
