More than 100 alumni will return to campus the weekend of Feb. 15 for the annual Break Through student-alumni networking conference.
The two-day conference helps 体育买球官网 students to network and develop contacts with alumni and other professionals in their chosen fields.
“Break Through connects current students with alumni who have been exactly where they are and who want to help them as they move toward graduation and beyond,” said Michaeline Shuman, director of the Career Development Center. “It’s a great way for students to explore different careers, ask questions and begin building their professional network.”
All students, from first-years to seniors, are encouraged to attend. Alumni offer career-specific panel discussions, money management advice, résumé tips, online branding and more.
Other panels will cover a variety of work-related topics, including:
- Nontraditional career paths
- Team skills in the workplace
- Maximizing your summer break with an internship, job shadowing or a volunteer experience
- The art of small talk
- Working internationally
- Post-college life
- Race in the workplace
Career-specific panel discussions will focus on specific academic areas, including careers in business, politics, research, medicine, arts administration, environmental science, teaching, tech, media and many more. Additional panels will focus on career opportunities in service and the nonprofit sector.
Students will also have the opportunity to apply for jobs and internships at the Career Expo from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15. There will also be a reception for student-athletes on Friday evening.
Networking opportunities on Saturday, Feb. 16 include a networking brunch for female student-athletes at 9:45 a.m.; a student-alumni lunch at noon; a speed networking event at 2:30 p.m.; and a student-alumni networking reception at 5 p.m.
