President: July 1, 2017–Present

  • Chief Executive Officer of the University responsible for all aspects of the institutional mission with special emphasis on planning, assessment, diversity and inclusion and fundraising
  • Completed a $185 million capital campaign (more than the previous three campaigns combined) and doubled annual fundraising post-campaign
  • Joined the American Talent Initiative
  • Launched federally funded TRIO and Title III programs and state-funded REACH program
  • Created the Innovation Center, The Build Collaborative, a new Makerspace, and the Burke Hawk Hub (a one-stop support center for students)
  • Established the Downtown Center and the Martin Retreat Center
  • Expanded the Freshwater Research Institute in collaboration with the Chesapeake Conservancy and numerous public and private partners
  • Developed robust government relations on the state and federal level
  • Completed numerous capital projects while systematically reducing the University’s debt
  • Implemented the University’s first branding effort
