About Me
Sean Renner is a composer, recording artist, and performing artist, whose broad range of work spans modern orchestral to electronic production. His music blends cinematic composition with innovative studio production, creating a distinctive sound that bridges film scoring, recording, and live performance.
RENNER’S FEATURE FILM AND TELEVISION CREDITS have included projects for Netflix, Hulu, MTV, PBS, and Sky TV, and projects that have screened at major festivals including Sundance, Tribeca, Slamdance, the SOHO International Film Festival, the Palm Springs International Film Festival, and Dances with Films. His credits include additional music composer and string arranger on the Rian Johnson-produced Netflix film “Fair Play”, which premiered to critical acclaim at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, and additional music composer, arranger, orchestrator, and virtual instrument/synth programmer on the Hollywood Music in Media Award-winning score for the Sky TV series “Das Boot” (the successor to the 1981 Academy Award-nominated film). His credits also include composing and producing the scores for Marc Furmie’s upcoming feature film “Viper” starring Golden Globe-winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Stephen Dorff, the 2023 feature film “Screwdriver” from Buffalo 8 Productions, Sterling Macer Jr.’s 2020 thriller feature film “Double Down”, and Alexandra Swarens’ heartfelt 2021 drama “Spring”.
In 2023, he worked as an additional music arranger and music programmer on Alden Ehrenreich’s directorial debut “Shadow Brother Sunday”, produced by Francis Ford Coppola, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. And in 2019 he was nominated for a Jerry Goldsmith Award for the song “Underwater” which he performed and co-composed for the Austrian Academy Award-nominated feature film “The Tobacconist”. In the podcast and audio drama world, Renner composed and produced the haunting, epic score for the Podcast Academy Award-nominated full-cast audio fiction series “The Madness of Chartrulean”. Renner’s credits as an orchestrator include the score for the 2025 feature film “Queen of the Ring” starring Emily Burke, recorded with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, and the score for the Austrian Academy Award-winning feature film “A Whole Life”, based on Robert Seethauer’s best-selling novel and recorded with the Macedonian Symphonic Orchestra.
AS A SOLO SONGWRITER AND PRODUCER, Renner’s work has spanned 5 LPs and numerous singles and collaborations. His music has received airplay on over 100 radio stations across the US and Canada, and has been featured in films and television series including MTV’s “Catfish: The TV Show”, MTV’s “True Life”, and MTV’s “Unlocking the Truth”. Renner’s most recent solo work, “Flora”, epitomizes his signature combination of ethereal vocal stylings and organic-electronic production rooted in creative sampling and sound processing, organic instrumentation, and hip-hop-influenced beats. “Flora” has been featured on Colorado Public Radio and in The Denver Post.
ON STAGE, Renner has created an uncompromising multi-instrumental, vocal, and electronic performance, with over 130 shows throughout the United States and Canada. Using a combination of instruments, vocals, and real-time looping and processing, Renner single-handedly brings to life the distinctive vocal styling and electronic production that he skillfully manicures on his records.
Renner earned his BA from Elon University, and his MFA in composition and performance at the Herb Alpert School of Music at California Institute of the Arts. He has taught courses at California Institute of the Arts, Point Blank Music School in Los Angeles, and has served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at Elon University’s Los Angeles program. Renner is currently the Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Technology at 体育买球官网 University.
