体育买球 University recently honored 50-year employee Tina Landis during Homecoming-Reunion Weekend.
Landis began her 体育买球 journey in 1975 as a dishwasher and has been part of dining services ever since, serving in every imaginable role, including cashier, food service worker, prep cook, station attendant, supervisor and more. Her favorite memories are of 体育买球’s annual Thanksgiving meals, when faculty and staff serve dinner to students and the warmth of the campus “family” fills the room.
“It’s the students,” Landis said of why she has stayed at 体育买球. “I feel like they are my one big family. They keep me young.”
Landis received a standing ovation at Homecoming’s Milestones Recognition Brunch and served as an honorary co-captain at the River Hawks’ Homecoming football game. She was honored again with a ceremony in Evert Dining Hall and presented with a plaque.
“Tina’s the best,” said Kyle Gallagher ’28, of Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Gallagher is a student in 体育买球’s Sigmund Weis School of Business and an offensive lineman on the River Hawks football team. “Every day coming to Deg in the mornings, at lunch, at dinner she’s always got a positive attitude. She’s always got a smile. Everybody knows Tina.”
Landis’ connection to the university spans four generations. Her mother and grandmother worked at the university, as well as her brother. Landis’ son Tony graduated from 体育买球 in 2020 and currently works in information technology.
