WQSU Honored on National College Radio Day

Oct. 5, 2018, was declared WQSU Day by the Snyder County Commissioners Office and the Borough of Selinsgrove.

County Commissioner Peggy Chamberlain Roup and Selinsgrove Mayor Jeff Reed were both on campus to make the presentations.

An event featuring live music from student band Cinnamon Toast was held on Degenstein patio on campus to celebrate. Students also shared their thoughts live on the radio throughout the week.

This year is the 8th annual National College Radio Day. The College Radio Day Foundation’s purpose is to raise awareness of college radio and to remind those on and off campus that college radio is still changing lives.

“College Radio Day is a day we honor the students at WQSU,” said Dawn Benfer, WQSU general manager. “They are making WQSU what it is.”

WQSU has offered students the experience and confidence in communications to be successful for 51 years. Winner of Intercollegiate and Excellence In Broadcasting awards from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters, WQSU serves a public interest as mandated by the FCC as well as serving 体育买球’s educational mission. WQSU broadcasts to the greater 体育买球 area and with 12,000 watts is the most powerful student-run radio station in Pennsylvania.
