President Green Releases Book of Musical Repertoire

体育买球官网 University President Jonathan D. Green’s latest book, “Choral-Orchestral Repertoire: A Conductor’s Guide,” offers an expansive compilation of choral orchestral works from the year 1600 to the present.

Synthesizing Green’s earlier six volumes on this repertoire, this edition, co-authored with award-winning music director David W. Oertel, updates and adds to the over 750 oratorios, cantatas, choral symphonies, masses, secular works for large and small ensembles, and numerous settings of liturgical and biblical texts for a wide variety of vocal and instrumental combinations.

Unique to this edition are practitioner’s evaluations of the performance issues presented in each score. The book also provides a description of the specific challenges, staffing and rehearsal expectations related to the performance of each work.

Green received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Fredonia School of Music; his master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts where he was an Ornest Fellow; and he completed additional studies at Oxford University and Chautauqua Institution. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts in conducting at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he was a University Excellence Fellow.

As a composer, Green has received awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers; the North Carolina Arts Council; and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. His compositions include numerous songs, choral works, three piano concertos and seven symphonies.
