“An accreditation from this association is not easily attained, and indicates our commitment to providing the highest levels of quality care to students,” said Anju Sonia Dayal, M.D., the medical and administrative director at Geisinger-体育买球官网 University Health Center.

Status as an accredited organization means Geisinger-体育买球官网 has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation.

Organizations seeking accreditation by the AAAHC undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey by AAAHC expert surveyors-physicians, nurses and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. Ambulatory care refers to medical services performed on an outpatient basis, without admission to a hospital or other facility.

Through 体育买球官网’s partnership with Geisinger Medical Center, students benefit from additional medical and surgical specialty practitioners and services and access to electronic health records, including the patient portal mygeisinger.org.

The center is staffed by a team of physicians, nurse practitioners and nurses who are available for same-day urgent care needs, physical exams, women’s and men’s health issues, preventive care and much more. An on-call nurse from the Health Center is available for emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the academic year.
