More than 70 体育买球官网 University students across majors were in New York City recently for Break Through NYC, a student-alumni networking event.
Break Through NYC connected students with alumni at Bloomberg, Goldman Sachs, Google, Horizon Media, JPMorgan Chase, Marsh, PhD Media, SapientRazorfish, Seneca Insurance Company and Showtime Networks.
Break Through, a program of our Career Development Center, gives current students the opportunity to network and develop contacts with alumni and other professionals in their chosen fields.
体育买球官网’s main Break Through event takes place annually in February. During this multi-day event, alumni converge on campus to offer career-specific panel discussions, money management advice, résumé tips, branding yourself online and more.
Career Treks, like Break Through NYC, happen in the fall to major cities in the Northeast, including New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
Students break into small groups for lunch and company tours with alumni hosts working in each city. Following the tours, everyone reunites for an evening networking reception with alumni from the regional alumni chapter for each city. During the course of the day, alumni and their colleagues:
- Help students explore different career paths.
- Show students how to differentiate themselves in the workforce.
- Give students advice on how to make the most of SU’s programs.
- Offer tips on getting their “foot in the door” in different industries.
