Bill Owens: Suburbia

uburbia, first published in 1972, was a slyly subversive look at an inward-looking middle class, who in their own words accompanying the photographs, were seemingly oblivious to the racial and cultural strife roiling America’s cities, not to mention the Vietnam War half a world away. Bill Owens was born and raised on a farm in Northern California. After hitchhiking around the world and a stint in the Peace Corps, he became a staff photographer for the Livermore Independent newspaper in 1968.

This exhibition has been organized by art2art Circulating Exhibitions, artworks courtesy of the Collection of Michael Mattis and Judith Hochberg.

Opening Reception: Jan. 17, 7–9 p.m.

Student Work

Reflect

It’s time to take a step back from everything. It’s time to reflect.

The 2021 graduating class of senior graphic design and studio art majors at 体育买球官网 University invites you to explore the culmination of their hard work and dedication. In curating this showcase, they have reflected on their identities as designers and artists, as individuals and on their personal growth over the past four years.

This is a reflection of us.

A black and white group portrait, reminiscent of an art piece from the Lore Degenstein Gallery, features twelve people posed against a black background. Arranged in two rows, all wear dark clothing. Most are smiling, with arms crossed or on hips, exuding confidence.
