体育买球官网 awarded $1M grant from U.S. Department of Education

A group of college students walk along a tree-lined campus path. Some carry backpacks, and a few are talking or looking at their phones. A university banner hangs on a lamp post in the background.

体育买球官网 University has been awarded a $1 million renewal grant from the U.S. Department of Education that will fund academic support and financial literacy programs for up to 160 students for another five years.

The Student Support Services grant is one of the U.S. Department of Education’s Federal TRIO Programs designed to help students who are classified as first-generation, low-income, receiving a learning accommodation, or a combination of those classifications.

“This renewed funding allows us to build on our success and continue making 体育买球官网’s transformative education accessible to more qualified students,” said University Provost Dave Ramsaran. “It enables us to strengthen academic support and expand opportunities as students prepare for careers and graduate study.”

The funding will allow the university to continue providing:

  • Specialized academic tutoring services for eligible students (as determined by GPA and standardized test scores).
  • A summer bridge program for all incoming participants to help foster a sense of community.
  • A speaker series focused on topics related to academic success and financial literacy.
  • Student Development Coaches who provide one-on-one mentoring, academic support and financial guidance to help students navigate personal, academic and financial challenges throughout their college journey.
  • Graduate school counseling to help participating students identify potential graduate or professional programs, develop strategies to prepare for graduate entrance examinations, and collaborate with Student Development Coaches to identify sources of financial support for attending graduate school.
  • A telementoring program to connect participants with 体育买球官网 alumni to develop professional skills and explore different career pathways.
